INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS and TRAINING FOR TRYOUTS

August 8, 2017 - INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS

We're always asked whether players/families need to attend the Informational Meetings, and our answer is this:

1) For families/players who have never played for our club, it is an absolute necessity.  Which club to try out for is an important decision for any junior player, and--short of playing for the club in a previous year--there is no better way to understand the practices, policies and philosophy of our organization.

2)  If you're a returning family/player and haven't been to an info session, it's a good idea.  We've had coaches who have been with us for several years finally attend an info meeting and universally they tell us that it was time well spent.

3)  If you've played for an A5 club before and hope to play for us again, you can use your own judgment.  We are already aware of uniform changes, coaching changes and schedule adjustments that we will make known in the meetings.  That said, there won't be wholesale changes to our training philosophy and we have held the line on our budget for the past ten years, so we don't expect any significant changes on the financial side either.

4) Documents list to the side will eventually include a) SRVA Registration Instructions b) A5 Registration Instructions c) FAQ for Beach / Boys and Indoor d) USAV Medical forms.  These forms will be linked to multiple pages once they are ready.  Please check back often!

Indoor Teams:

Informational Sessions about A5's 2017-2018 Club Season will be held on the following dates at MedAssets Auditorium (100 North Point Center E #200, Alpharetta): 

Sept. 13, 2017 (Wednesday) at 7:00pm
Sept 24, 2017 (Sunday) at 6:00pm  
Oct 25, 2017 (Wednesday) at 7:00pm

You do not need to attend all sessions.  You may pick one that is convenient to your schedule.  During these general info sessions, we will have a breakout session pertaining specifically to our 12 & Under Program.

If you are unable to make the sessions above, supplemental info sessions about our 12 & Under Program will be held at the Walker School (Coles Athletic Center) in Marietta on the following dates:
Sept 24 (Sunday) 2:00-3:00pm

Beach Teams:

Informational Sessions about A5's Beach 2017-18 Club Season will be held on the following dates at MedAssets Auditorium (100 North Point Center E #200, Alpharetta):

2017 TRAIN FOR TRYOUTS WORKSHOPS

A5 Volleyball & VolleyPerformance are teaming up to bring you the Youth Train For Tryouts Workshops which will familiarize young athletes with club tryout procedures. Athletes will work on various phases of the tryout process. Coaches will conduct a "mock tryout" which will include evaluations throughout the workshop. Very limited skill instruction will be given, however we will guide athletes through the drills designed to showcase their overall athletic ability and volleyball skills. Attention and feedback will be given to the athlete's court demeanor, hustle, communication and work ethic.

Age Groups:
12 & Under - Oct. 9 (Mon) and Oct. 11 (Wed) 5:00-7:00pm
13's Eligible - Oct. 10 (Tues) and Oct. 12 (Thurs) 6:00-8:00pm
14's-18's - please register at www.volleyperformance.com.  This is a separate program run by VP for older girls.  Several sessions will be offered. 14's Training for tryouts will Occur On Oct 7 (10am), Oct 9, 11 at 7:30.  On Saturday 30 at 10am at Holy Innocents!  Please check the schedule for exact details
Cost: $100 for 2 sessions (1 day a week $60)
