Helen Lin Named Head Coach A5 141
July 20, 2018 - Helen Lin, former Emory Assistant Coach and rising young star on the national club volleyball stage, has taken the helm as the 141 Head Coach at A5! Currently the Walker High School Head Coach, Lin has already accrued a vast amount of experience, including 2 NCAA Final Four appearances and a Runner Up, 3 AAU/USAV Open Nationals medals, and a 10 year professional playing stint in China’s top leagues. We asked some A5 parents that have had Helen as a coach and here’s what they had to say: “Helen is one of the best strategic coaches I have ever witnessed.” “Helen identifies each players’ strengths and uses those talents to make the team work. Helen instills confidence in each player, and her love for the game translates to growth and knowledge for each of her athletes.” Players that have played for her agree: “Coach Helen is the hardest and BEST coach I have ever played for. She expects the best from you every single day and believes you can and will give her that.”
Helen is fortunate to have a pair of assistants this year splitting duties, starting off with long-time A5 161 Gabe assistant Calvin Kehoe. While at A5 Calvin has amassed a number of Qualifier and AAU/USAV Nationals medals, including the 2016 Open AAU and USAV National Championship Gold Medals. Splitting duties is just what Calvin needs as he focuses on his final year of college courses.
Sarah Maher is new to A5 this year and will fill the other assistant position. Sarah is a 3 time AVCA All-American right side from Emory, originally from powerhouse volleyball club Laguna Beach in So Cal. Sarah has a BA in Business Administration and is currently a Communications Consultant here in the Atlanta area.
