Walter Patterson will be the 11-1 Coach for the 2018-2019 season!
August 27, 2018 - Long-time A5 coach Walter Patterson has been in the youth volleyball scene well before A5 was founded, helping start Peach State Volleyball Club that eventually became A5's 12-and-Under Youth Program. Walter has taken multiple teams to USAV and AAU Nationals over the past 14 years, including all 8 of his past seasons as the A5 11-1 Head Coach. Walter also coached the Middle School team at the Walker School in Marietta for almost 10 years, as well as serving as the Walker High School Assistant Coach. In 2013, Walter started the "Fridays At Four" youth open gyms, introducing volleyball to kids as young as six. Many of A5's younger athletes trace their origins to Fridays At Four! Since 2013, Walter has volunteered his time each week for these open gyms in an effort to provide volleyball opportunities for Atlanta's youngest athletes. In addition to coaching A5's 11-1 team, Walter's position as Associate Youth Director allows him to more directly support A5's youngest athletes and teams in an advisory role.
Assisting Walter this season will be Jordi Nix. This is Jordi’s second year coaching at A5 in the youth arena after getting her start last year as an Assistant Coach for A5’s 10-1 team. Jordi is also an Assistant Coach for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy’s Middle and High School teams. She began coaching 5 years ago through various outlets including camps and clinics for A5 and VolleyPerformance. Jordi played for ten years including four summers of training with the USAV High Performance Junior Olympic Teams, where she was a captain for her team. She was also a four-year starting varsity setter and was honored with accolades such as captain, All Region, All State and MVP awards. Jordi was an honor student in high school and is currently a junior at Kennesaw State studying Public Relations. Her secret talent is that she is ambidextrous, which freaks Walter out :)
