A5 16 Liang Qualfies for Nationals in 16 USA Division

A5 18 Scott Double-Qualifies in Open Division; Many Championships to Celebrate;

A5 Family,

The Qualifier Season started with a vengeance, with 26 of our teams competing in Orlando or Baltimore last weekend. A5 16 Liang qualified in the 16 USA division by finishing with a Bronze Medal in the Sunshine Qualifier, while A5 18 Scott "Double-Qualified" by finishing with a Silver Medal at the Northeast Qualifier. Many of our teams finished out of the money by one or two points, demonstrating again that every point matters - especially at a Qualifier.

A5 16 Liang Punches Ticket to Indy

A5 16 Liang started the weekend 7 - 0 before losing '12-15 in the semifinal match, setting up a must-win match for the Bronze Medal and a bid to Nationals.

Not to worry, though - this team decimated their opponent in the medal match 25-20; 25-11 to qualify in the 16 USA division. They will seek to better their bid to the Open division in the weeks to come.

What did Liang have to say about this accomplishment? "We could have done better."

A5 18 Scott Double-Qualifies in Baltimore

With an 18 Open bid from Beast of the Southeast safely in hand, A5 18 Scott is playing for a Seed at Nationals, playing to Get Better, playing for Fun, and- most of all - playing for Each Other. They accomplished all of those goals in Baltimore last weekend, with a runner-up finish at the Northeast Qualifier. Full disclosure: they finished in a three-way tie for second place, which was reconciled by point percentage, so technically this team finished third.

Talk about close.... 18 Scott streaked to a 7-0 start - including a 25-20; 28-26 win over top-seeded TAV and an 18-16 win over AVC before succumbing to a 27-29; 26-28 heartbreaker to eventual champion TAV.
